Lucas Rempel

Picture
My name is Lucas and I am a third-year undergraduate student in the Faculty of Science. I have been awarded a UBC Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Award for the summer of 2019.
My work with the Rossi Lab aims to characterize the heterogeneity of mesenchymal perivascular cardiac progenitors by investigating their lineages and their respective roles in tissue regeneration following damage. More precisely, I am working with Dr. Elena Groppa to examine if ANGPT1 knockout and TIE-2 knockout in the Angpt1/Tie2 signalling pathway has an effect on regeneration in the heart. When I am not in the lab or studying for my classes, I enjoy coaching and playing soccer, as well as getting involved with advocacy groups at UBC.
