Simon QI
Simon Qi is a senior research technician with a robust background in medical research, particularly in the fields of Biomedical and animal surgeries. He graduated from Tianjin Medical University in China and has since dedicated his career to exploring and translating genes associated with various human cancers, with a primary focus on lung cancer and esophageal cancer.
After accumulating valuable experience in animal procedures, surgeries and molecular research, Simon immigrated to Canada and has contributed significantly as a research assistant at UBC for over 16 years. Currently, his research interests are centered around tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Simon is an avid enthusiast of outdoor activities. He enjoys playing soccer and basketball with friends, traveling with his family, and partaking in group hikes and jogging sessions. Additionally, he has a passion for artistic expression, finding joy in activities such as drawing, cooking, and playing board games. Simon's diverse interests and experiences make him a well-rounded and valuable member of our team.
