Few of us today explored what UBC (The Peter Wall Institute) has to offer during Lunch hour. Today we have been inspired to think about science and fashion in a different way: "Jacqueline Firkins, an assistant professor in UBC’s Dept. of Theatre and Film with the help of Scientist Dr Christian Naus, has created a collection of ball gowns inspired by microscopic photos of cancer cells and cellular systems to get people talking about the disease, beauty and body image." In this Photo starting from the left: Dr Shin from Dr Naus's Lab, Dr Rossi's daughter Angelica Rossi, Regan Heng Zhang, Lin Yi and finally Dr Firkins next to one of her beautiful dresses inspired by Cancer Cells. The talk was inspiring, seeing how Science and Fashion could fusion like this opened up a lovely debate at the and of the talk. http://www.theatre.ubc.ca/fashioning_cancer/subject.html
